Durban South Africa

Durban has been synonymous with the term"golden mile" for nearly have a century and has always been a port of call for many in the merchant navy. Most sailors will speak fondly of the Smugglers Inn - a landmark pub and grill.

Durban has come leaps and bounds since the 1950's and is now the most chosen seaside destination to visit when visiting the sunny climate of South Africa. The beaches have some of the most sought after surfing spots in the world with a clean right and left break off the new pier and dairy beach pier which is home to the annual Quiksilver Pro.

Durban will play host to the Soccer World Cup in 2010 and is currently spending billions of Rands on infrastructure upgrades to the beachfront, creating a promenade walkway which will start at the Ushaka Marine World and travel North towards the Suncoast Hotel and Casino at Sunkist beach, about 5 kilometres of uninterupted walkways.

The cuisine in and around the town is second to none with many outdoors eateries taking advantage of the fresh summer air and fantastic climate that South Africa has to offer all year round.
