Ostrich Racing in Oudtshoorn

Being a South African Nomad has its perks if you feel like you could tackle a few extreme sports whilst on your travels through South Africa. One of the favourite pastimes when travelling through the small rural town of Oudtshoorn on the way to Cape Town is to ride an ostrich in Oudtshoorn.

Now you may think it a little strange to ride an ostrich as i'm sure you know they are the biggest birds on the planet. There are only two things to remember when embarking on the awesome feat of riding an ostrich, the first is stay well clear of their feet as they are known to be able to kick a hole through a car door as if it were paper and the second is to hang on for dear life as they can certainly run like the clappers.
